Featuring graffiti art in commercial ads without permision could burn a hole in your pocket.

After all the controversy raised by J-Lo's  "This is My World" Fiat 500 commercial, in which she is talks about her rise to fame while driving from Manhattan to the Bronx, but her part was actually filmed in Los Angeles, an new controversy arises. Parts of the Bronx background video shows copyrighted TATS Cru graffiti murals used with out permission. TATS Cru had no knowledge their copyrighted artwork was being used by Chrysler, Fiats U.S. Importer, till they started getting calls, and emails congratulating them for being featured in the commercial. at first TATS Cru was cool with people using their work with out acknowledging their part but, it has gotten to the point where they needed to set a precedent. Their attorney filed a lawsuit against Chrysler and the advertizing company claiming copyright infringement. TATS Cru also wanted to make it clear they have nothing against J-Lo, "She wasn't even there."  Nicer said. Hopefully, this lawsuit will help advertizing companies and the media understand they can't make money from street art without looking out for the artist first.
