SAN DIEGO, CA – Nothing captures real, urban life like photography, and Thumbprint Gallery will be featuring some of the greatest scenes in its upcoming exhibit, Urban-Eyes: An Urban Photography Show at Bar Basic on March 13. City life at its best will be captured with snapshots of San Diego by a variety of local photographers.
Featured in the show is artist Mike Herana, a San Diego native. His photography is inspired by the essence of southern California’s culture, as well as street culture, and hip-hop. Bringing his exciting portrayals of nightlife in the city, Herana is always sure to highlight San Diego’s urban life.
Also participating in the exhibit is Michael Raymond, who also photographs portraits, weddings, and other special events. As someone who is always taking pictures, Raymond especially likes to work with people: “When I am working with my clients I like to make sure I have a connection with them…it’s important we click on different levels because it will help you be comfortable in front of the camera!”
Jo Kamimura, a Japanese-born photographer living in San Diego, describes his work as “multi-dimensional” and “love-based.” His photographs range anywhere between people and the town, and nature and architecture. Kamimura also creates short films.
Other artists exhibiting include Still 1, RBST, and Andrew Power. There will also be live painting by True Delorenzo, Hillary Young, and Sharif I. Carter. Music will be provided by The Doepest, DJ Destijl (Rock So Fresh), and PLO RZO.
The opening starts at 7pm and runs until 12 am on March 13. Bar Basic is located at 410 Tenth Avenue in downtown, San Diego. There is no dress code and no cover. However, you must be at least 21 years old to attend.
